Discover the Nineteenth Century

An example of the new digital collections that provide researchers an entirely new toolset based in discovery is Nineteenth Century Collections Online (NCCO), now available to Drake through Cowles Library.

NCCO is a multi-year global digitization and publishing program focusing on primary source collections of the nineteenth century. The content is sourced from the world’s preeminent libraries and archives. It consists of monographs, newspapers, pamphlets, manuscripts, ephemera, maps, photographs, statistics, and other documents in both Western and non-Western languages. NCCO’s initial collections include Britain, Europe, Africa, Asia, Science, Women and Photography.

These eight archives are just the first parts of of Nineteenth Century Collections Online. Another four archives are planned for 2014 and will take a global perspective. Potential archives include Latin America; Australia and the South Pacific; and more.
